Lost time….

I get frustrated by the morons who tailgate.

We arn’t supposed to be able to sue for traffic accident damages here in NZ because we have been bestowed with the all seeing and all powerful Accident, Compensation Corporation. I think this is wrong.

I am a contractor, this means when the moron hits the back of my car, the clock should start running for all damages…the ACC will only pay me 80% of my ‘wages’ whilst I recover…but who will pay for my mental anguish caused by my spainal/neck injury causing me to be afraid of driving ever again? The ACC wont thats for sure. What about my car?..I know it’s a 1988 Corolla with a book price of less than a grand…but I have spent heaps of my time maintaining this vehicle in top mechanical nick for the last 150,000kms…finding another [more time and $$$] in the same shape would be a nightmare.

Therefore I want to be able to opt out of the ACC fantasy and take my own legal action to recover damages and all my new costs. I want to sue the moron who hits me for the TORT of negligence - they should have been paying attention and leaving [dare I say it?] a stop gap. Complete disregard for me and  my passengers should be recoverable via legal means.
insurance company can then at leisure, recover from their insuree. This would drive up premiums on sporty cars and 4×4’s and boy racer vehicles making these things expensive [especially when 3rd party compulsary comes in soon]. With high insurance premiums and lost no-claims bonus’s [should that be bonii?], arising out of my little case law win,  people might think twice about tailgating.

Oh, I forgot these morons are incapable of thinking….that’s why I wrote this blog!

Next time some one rams me….I might try suing.

But where will we put the blue flashing light Sir?

Should the Internet be an emergency service? I seem to be in a weird state of mind when there is no available web service….even on the boat -where life was supposed to be simplified- I am now thinking do we go with local provider for service or do we hook up the old satellite connection for access wherever we are in the whole south pacific?
[you know....the 5 digit pin you selected when you registered for phone banking...PHONE banking????...what PIN? aaaarggg]
My cells just been dropped in my pint…and I can’t remember my partners cell no. and where did she want picking up? I know I’ll have  alook at her online office details…what no web service? aaaarrgggg.  [Society trained me not to remember numbers when we lost the rotary dial phones in favour of ones which STORED numbers...... hmmm]

Can’t actually think of any serious emergency scenarios as I am too hungry…..adios.

Indiana Jones and the WTF?

Not to be a movie snob, but having worked on movies for a little while now I sorta stop watching [poor, unoriginal] movies and start analysing them……Just watched Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull -as I thought a quick time warp back to my teens would be cool…. I was very dissapointed at the latest offering from two normally awesome directors/producers. Thank god for special effects - as it seems that one doesn’t need a script any longer…just a business plan to sell happy meals and Xbox games.

My god it was bad. Didn’t even see the link between the first 10 minutes and the rest of the film. Sets were OK…nothing we haven’t seen in Kong [did it better as it was original]….sorry but old Cate sold out and John Hurt….wow…..did he really need to do this? Isn’t Indy like 65? Good acting, pity the lines were lame. I even had people laughing out loud at the most trivial slapstick bits….used to be clever humour in the old movies…now dumbed right down to suit modern tastes?

‘Terminator - The Sarah Conner Chronicles’.

My mate Tim De Jardine [who was in a parallel showing elsewhere] stated via txt as my showing concluded -that he started a slow piss take clap at the end…..it was that bad for him. www.timdejardine.com

citywide zoning…..

On a travel theme, could local councils ‘zone’ cities into different starting and finishing times of work? Don’t know how this would be policed but carrots instead of sticks would be preferable.

Heavy trucks could be confined to night travel only….schools start at 10am to miss the rush hour…
going on.

Would probably only need half an hour staggering….apart from accidents….

might work? love yer comments please.

Why…..

…..Do old people insist in going out at lunchtimes?
It’s not that I would want to infringe on their human rights to do so…but they HAVE ALL DAY - EVERYDAY to do their shopping for their singular loaf or lotto or nappies.

Did this start in the 40’s and they did it their whole life?

Why do they insist on driving at 30kmh in anything from 50-100 zones?

C’mon folks you’ve had your lives…let us younger people have the lunchtimes!

In saying that… you can be damned certain I’ll be hovering my little ‘hovering thing’ at lunchtime…well below the posted hovering limit when I’m a hundred and thirty!

Are you taking the prius mate?

I love the concept of hybrid cars…clean air, lovely noiseless environment, kinda Knightrider-y….

Just have a small problem with the big electricity burning, effluent producing, chemical haven that is the factory making these things…..how come we need so many new cars?

My 1988 Toyota Corolla is the best vehicle I have ever owned - seriously. Cost me $900 3 years ago, it has now done 289,000kms and I have spent about $1500 on repairs and oil during time owned.

The Government [er the Motor Trade Association lobbyists possibly?] want me to buy a new car…waffor? status? my little 1.3 does better mileage than a prius and doesn’t burn oil - all she needs is oil change every 10000kms. Amortise the car over 20 years since she was new…and we are talking awesome environmental return for what she cost in resources to build.
How come ’sales people’ need a big ass Holden V6? Don’t they mainly drive on their own? C’mon Government/LTSA/MTA…who you kidding? Small hybrid cars…how about limiting all new car sales to 600cc?
